Digipak

This is one example of a 6 panel digipak, the type of digipak we are individually trying to emulate in our groups. Ricky Lee Robinson is a musical artist who uses multiple digipak conventions throughout the 6 panels.

Firstly, the fact that he uses his RLR logo multiple times on the inside and back cover of the CD casing. Song names listings are also apparent. Animation with the same colour complementation; blue, brown and back all the way through.

 

This digipak example is from the band Two Door Cinema Club. This is one of their most modern pieces of artwork and moreover music. The front cover of the CD pack has one of the band members  on it wearing a French street imitators costume. This comical theme is apparent throughout the whole album CD, so therefore very good. The black and white theme is definitely something that i'm considering to emulate. I'd use this for pictures of Tolani, who's acting in our music video, then with bright sections of it to cover our Vivid artist. 

Digipak - Lesson Notes

Todays lesson consisted of recent digipak examples from pupils and other examples from actual stars in the music industry.



Album artwork is a very important part of how you create a full album digipak and cover. This is historically important so that the album CD 'stands out from the others'. This is vital because of how many demos and promos bands would send out to big music producers in an attempt to be heard, respected and given a chance in the industry.

Design success is important because the artwork on a CD case can catch anyones eye and therefore will interest anyone who isn't currently a fan of that band. 

Weekly Plan

This week in our groups, our group plan to finalise ideas on location and costume then later on in the week (Friday) actually begin filming. The location I expect to be the places i'be previously discussed in blogs.

Indie Genre Research

Lana Del Rey is a popular artist who's kind of music is usually classed as indie and something were trying to emulate. 

 

Ella Eyre is also an artist with similar outcomes, shown below. Themes and concepts which we will take into consideration throughout these videos are the colour, the fast paced shots and also the performance of the subject (artist). 

Location research - Indie

The types of locations we are researching and interested in are possible indie options. One very good option we've researched is the 'God's Own Junkyard' in London.

This is where the location actually is. The basis of the Junkyard is that it's an art gallery/bar. To film here i predict we will have to email or call to see if it's available to use in our film.
