Filming

After watching back and working on our music video for some extra time I thought that the video had to include more staged shots, studio based, so that the video's emotions could be controlled.

By this I mean that throughout the video the emotional road the viewer is taken on whilst, "He doesn't love me" and "Am I ugly?" run through the song frequently, its clear it shouldn't technically be a happy, summery, 'in a park eating ice cream' kind of music video. Therefore, to keep an abstract and indie feel to the emotional rollercoaster the song takes you, some structure is key. My plan was to include these structural clips at the beginning and end, then throughout continuing the rollercoaster and leaving the audience asking questions.

These shots included ones, on set, in a dark room.

Filming Planning

Our first shoot was a very successful one and one in which mostly all of our shots and ideas worked very well once we watched them back and began to integrate them in our sequence. As editor of the group I noticed that some of the lip synching was out of time from our first in-door shoot using a studio. These are therefore shots we are interested in re-shooting.


The best shots from our shoot were the ones that were very colourful, involved exciting high energy performances and interesting location(s). All things we've noted for our next shoots.

First location shoot

Today, our group went to Soho London to shoot for our music video. To shoot we used and referenced our storyboard a lot of the time and found this very helpful. Our destination was central Soho but on the way we ended p finding unique appropriate locations and settings which we used to find alternative shots. 

Below are some stills and photos from our day of shooting. Post shoot: I uploaded all of our appropriate footage to Adobe Premiere as main editor of the group and started to cut and edit the clips together and remove any out-takes when necessary.

Filming Day 1

Today we filmed the opening shots for our music video. This is a small part of it when we have close ups and lip synching for a short period of time.  These were the three different angles from which we filmed from. 

Below are pictures from our set we used to film the shots. We used 4 lights in total and a tripod to film. Overall, I believe the shoot was 100% successful. The 4 shots from different angles were all what we wanted so we didn't need to re-shoot.
